April 7th 2010 - "You can trust in the power of music ..."

It was sunny again and we decided to do our first longer canoe trip. Longer means ... for about one hour. To the island and back. The lake was pretty calm as we left, but near the island we realized that the wind was developing and then we had to fight against the wind and the waves. Not too bad, though.

We enjoyed the afternoon on our deck in the sun. Someone said to me yesterday: You are lucky with the weather, we normally get that in July ... no, it's soooo nice we don't even get that in July. Hehe ... yes, he was probably right. :o)

In the evening we headed to the city - The Oysterband @ The Carleton. We got our seats at the side of the stage in the front, had a nice meal - steak and salad/seafood pasta. And I finally got my wrapped cheesecake! Yeah! It was nice meeting Jennie, Troy and Kelly again!

The show was brilliant, the musicians so close to our table that I sometimes had the feeling I'm actually playing in that band and also I have to add that while watching and listening you definitely want to play in that band, they seemed to have fun together - very inspiring!!!

Always a nice part of their show is, when John Jones leaves the stage and mingles among the audience to sing! They closed their set with "Put Out The Lights" acoustically (as always) I think. and in the middle of the room - it was actually funny to sit "behind" the band watching the audience enjoying the song.
We bought the latest CD and I had a nice chat with John Jones while he was signing it. He even came to say Hello to Gabi at the other end of the room, as we are from Germany ;o))). Ok ... I won't keep you in suspense ... we are going again tomorrow! Whoohoo!
Thanks Jennie for taking the time for a wee chat - really appreciated!
What a great evening.

On the way back we realized that we didn't have any beer at home anymore. Not I would bother at all  (Coke was in the fridge ..lol), but Gabi really likes a beer, after such a great day. So what do you do in Nova Scotia to get a beer at night? In Germany that would be easy, just go to the next gas station and buy a bottle of beer. But here? All liquor stores are closed. I remembered having seen a kind of liquor store drive-thru in the Burnside area some years ago. No idea if it was open at night, though. As it was in our direction, we decided to give it a try. I still can't believe that we found that place at once and it was open. A beer-drive-thru --- hehe, that's too funny!
