Back in the city we went to the Shopping Centre to grab something to eat, before going to Parade Square to join the WWF Earth Hour. It was really cold and I was happy to wear my long johns and snow boots now. After saying Hi to Dave Carroll, who just had fininshed the soundcheck, we decided to go and look for a coffee first. No ... not coffee ...a real cappuccino please! Not that easy here in Nova Scotia, but possible ... of course. Being back at the Parade Square the Sons Of Maxwell were about to start. Don said something like he couldn't feel the global warming right now --- yes, right ... wind chill -15°C. They played a few songs for maybe about 70 people. Then the "panda" went on stage to switch off the lights. Unfortunately only the lights in the building behind the stage went off. It didn't seem to me that any other people in the Argyle Street were joining in. Ok, lots of people in Canada joined in ... they also switched off the lights of the Halifax bridges, but you just couldn't see that at all. Anyway, the Sons Of Maxwell were taking a break, because of the cold and we went to the telescope to watch the moon. A great experience. Dave and Don came back on stage for a few songs. The stage was powered with "bullfrogged" energy. (Using "green" energy is a great thing generally ... not really sure about this event, though and what about all the small lights on the stage running with batteries ... eh???)
Dave Gunning had arrived and the few people, who were still there (I'd say about 40) were really enjoying the music, together directly in front of the stage now.
I really loved his version of "These Roads" ... I can't say why it was soooo special ... but it was!!!
Dave was asking for Dave again then ... and he came back on stage. (btw Dave Gunning didn't seem to be dressed warm enough for this freezing event ... and playing guitar for a while now ... it must have been really cold for him!!!). Choosing an acapella song ... without guitar and freezing fingers seemed a good idea to me! :o) Northwest Passage!
Wow great! I loved that version of Dave and Dave singing the Northwest Passage. If I remember right they closed with "Long Black Veil". All very happy that it was over, but also happy that we were there. A great evening!
Hopefully my cold won't be worse tomorrow.
March 26th 2010 --- the missing day ... lol.
Ok ... I left this day out ... for no reason ... maybe nothing interesting had happened?
I just forgot the day ...
Still fighting with the cold!
Anyone interested in a saltwater inhalating picture? lol
Here you are:
Ok, enough with that. ;o)
I've just found a picture of our pizza, before it actually burnt in the good Weber grill.
Looks yummy ... but it didn't taste yummy in the end. I don't believe in baking cakes in a Weber grill. I just don't think that this is possible at all --- I might be wrong, though.
I really love cooking and I think it's the worst thing in our apartment ... the missing kitchen. Anyway, I'm getting used to the microwave and the steaks are great.
It's just very different to what we are used to!
Live is good, though! :o)
Me as a Coke addict, I had to try this:
