March 25th 2010 --- Carmel Mikol at CBC Studio H

Ok ... I was coughing and coughing and coughing and nearly sure that a recording session in the evening wouldn't be the best. Well, Gabi went shopping and I spent some time on the deck in the sun and some time in the tub ... and I was really happy as Gabi and the lozenges arrived :o).
I worked really hard on not coughing for about one hour and it got better, so we decided to give it a try. Although we were in a traffic jam at the MacDonald Bridge we arrived just in time - Glenn Meisner (by that time I didn't know it was him, though) welcomed us at the door and brought us to the "roof-studio" Studio H. Carmel also welcomed us as we came into the studio ... all very nice. We took seat in the third row ... it didn't take long there came a couple in, the lady looked at me ... You are Judy? It was Paula and her husband Mike. So good to meet them finally! :o)
Glenn gave some advices "to feel at home, like in a living room" in the studio and Carmel accompanied by two guitar players started the show with the titel song of her new album "In My Bones" ... by the way ... I'd highly recommend her album!
Carmel Mikol
She played for about one hour and I really enjoyed the music and also the stories between the songs. And I actually enjoyed the great sound ... after a pub show yesterday ... yes and generally that was one of the best sounds we heard in the last weeks ... ok this is a recording studio ... the sound is meant to be good here ... but really good! And I got through the whole show without coughing during the songs ... just a few times during the applause. Phew!

Going back we took the MacDonald Bridge again and this time we had no three quaters so we took the "change" booth. The name says it ... change!!!! Gabi didn't have a look what she got back from the lady and wanted to drive through, but the barrier didn't move. Suddenly I said to Gabi ... she just changed the money ... you have to put the money in the box anyway. Ahh ok, we just wanted to back the car ... the lady came laughing, taking the money and putting it in the box ... telling us that this happens actually a lot.
At once we thought about the story which Dave Carroll told during the SC at the Rose & Kettle ... as he dropped the money one time (without the lady laughing at all) and as he thought he could drive through with his Macpass another time, but forgot he was sitting in a rental car without a Macpass :o))) I actually don't really remember why he told these stories ... hm ... there was a song ... don't really remember. Anyway.

By the way I'm just watching TV and I get used to it. I'm not a lot into watching TV at home ... not at all, but I'll miss all these Love It or List It shows in Germany... lol ... actually watching Letterman at moment ... funny, as I was a huge fan of the German version of it several years ago.
