We went to the Mayflower Mall right after we got up. Listening to music in a shopping centre sounded weird to me, but anyway … I got a coffee at Timmis and we then we got a seat - luckily, as there weren't a lot of seats.
David Myles arrived with a wee delay. He said he got lost and got up too late but luckily woke up in his suit, so he didn't have to dress up at least. lol.
It was a very fresh performance. Songs and stories were absolutely amazing.
I went to the CD booth after the performance to say Hi. Really nice to meet him.
The next one on stage was Meaghan Blanchard, who was very good, too.
Followed by Lennie Gallant - this time with band and he's still rising on my personal ladder of favourite artists ;o).
Carmen Townsend disturbed it all a little bit --- she has a good voice, but with her band … the Shakey Deals, she was way too loud and the performance had way too much bass.
But we stayed as we didn''t want to give up our seats … my ears were still resounding as Dave Gunning arrived. He was good as always. The last act of the ECMA 2010 Fanfest in the mall was Ron Hynes. Of course he was great, too.
After that we drove to the university to the photo exhibition, which was actually closed already.
After a supper at the Delta we stopped by the Crown and Moose pub to see Dave Gunning again. The pub was packed and the sound was really bad … that wasn't just my opinion, David Myles also said that. Dave sang the song Saltwater Hearts for the mother of a friend for whom the song was actually written --- lots of tears. A special moment.
We stayed for the next act. The sound was still bad and the crowd was even louder.
Thom Swift didn't care, he seemed to enjoy playing his guitar. He even played my favourite song "Seafoam" - I would have loved to tell every single person in the room to shut up, but … ok it was in a pub, you can't expect anything else than loud, drunk people.
We left the pub after Thom and drove to the Smooth Hermans. There was a Songwriter's Circle with Amy Sky, Chris Kirby, Erin Costelo, Kevin Fox and Tim Chaisson --- all names I knew, but despite of Kevin Fox haven't heard yet live.
I can tell you that was an amazing circle. Wow, I was impressed --- we left after two rounds, though --- we wanted some time at the hotel, before heading to the CC Festival Club. There we saw Buddy MacDonald with Rachel Davis, Dwayne Cote & Duane Andrews, Gillian Boucher, Carmel Mikol, Colin Grant and band (definitely the highlight!!!), Old Man Luedecke, Jennifer Roland and band, and many many fiddlers as finale. Don't know where Kelly actually found them all ;o).
4am at the hotel.
