March 5th ECMAs, Christmas for Canadian music Eastcoast style ... what a blast!

I still can't believe that --- I'm here --- it can't get any better than this.

In the morning we missed the breakfast and were getting ready for the day slowly.

As we heard on radio ECMA that Buddy would come up on Meet The Music shortly, we started in direction Delta. Good to see him (on stage with Wally MacAully.

Off to the Govener's for a late breakfast then. We skipped the exhibition I wanted to see, for some time at the hotel. Songwriters Circle at the Yacht club then. Kim Dunn, Dave Gunning, Lennie Gallant and Thom Swift --- doesn't that sound great? It was! Absolutely! The venue wasn't my favourite one, though. No moaning --- the circle was excellent. I'm wondering if I should know that 'inspiration' song by Kim Dunn? Ohh … amazing --- Dave's amazing, too --- songs and stories. It was actually the second time I saw Lennie Gallant live and I really enjoyed him hosting the event and his songs. Thom Swift without band was lovely, too. And he played my favourite instrumental song (besides Toby's Christmas dobro song) Seafoam --- it would have been one of these musical moments, if the people at the bar wouldn't have been that loud! What a great afternoon! Meeting Dave before and Lennie and Thom after the show --- all just lovely! Good to meet Thom in person finally --- looking forward to welcome him in Germany!

Not a lot of time until the evening entertainment, we arrived during the last few seconds of Dr. Zoo. Then Jessica Rhaye, who we saw as support for Dave on PEI last year. I liked it even more than 4 month ago. Madison Violet were just great, as expected. The song "Small Of My Heart" makes me still thinking about oat cakes … hehe.

Actually the surprise of the evening for me was John Campeljohn - very much like rock music, but absolutely great! The last act of that show were the Cottars and I just have to say that I loved the whole package! By the way Wendy Bergfeldt was hosting the show!

Before heading to the ECMA Celtic Colours Festival Club, we stopped at the Delta to say Hi to Greg Hanna --- ok … this was my first radio interview ever and in addition to that in English. Oh my god!!! I hope no one was listening! Really nice to meet Greg in person, though.

At the Festival Club Buddy was sitting on the stage and we found a place right in the front. As I spotted Kelly in the back I recognized my shirt (Xmas present) at once :o)))) Thanks Kelly for wearing it and for the kind words!!! And Buddy for sending out the Northwest Passage to us. A really enjoyable evening with Madison Violet, Jeff MacDonald, Andrea Beaton, Dawn and Margie Beaton and many more!!! Very much like Celtic Colours! At 4am we are back at the hotel --- a looooooong and great day!
