March 20th 2010 - Antigonish summer with music

Another busy day ahead. On our patio our landloards were busy, too. Because of the great weather they were putting the landing into the water. Seemed to be pretty exciting for all of them ... including the small dog Sophie :o). We left early again, to be in Antigonish by 2pm. It was a somewhat hot day. People were walking around in shorts and t-shirts -- 19°C -- so that's Canadian winter then.
I don't really know why I brought all these winter clothes and snow boots ... I did mention that before? Sorry, I'm just not getting over it --- but it's really lovely, too.

We went to the Piper's pub in Antigonish, seeing Rob MacLean and Cyril MacPhee playing. They brought their family and the pub was nicely filled. We started with a late breakfast, which was really delicious. It was nice meeting Cyril and his wife in person after some time email conversation.
Meeting Rob again was good, too. They played a good mix and it was a lovely afternoon. I loved the stage setting ... a snow covered village --- funny with having nearly 20°C outside.

After that we went to the ocean for some time with fresh air, enjoying the warm wind and watching the sun going down. Beautiful there. After some shopping we drove to the Dragon Fly. A great evening ahead. I always love that cafe --- highly recommended for a stop on the way to Cape Breton.

It was great to meet Susan again. We got a small table in the corner! Nice. After reading the menu we knew that this would be a great evening! We started with sharing some homemade russet and sweet potato chips served with Caramelized Onion and Roasted Garlic Dip as Prelude.

Then had Potato Roesti with Smoked Salmon Mousse and fresh Caper Salsa as Intro. My Chorus was Pumpkin Gnocchi served with a wild Mushroom Parsley Cream and Beef. Gabi had an haddock with light lemon butter.
The Refrain was Ice cream with strawberries ... we cut all the extras (Brownies, ...) as we were really full. ;o) Delicious, delicious, delicious.

Joey Kitson started to sing and we were really impressed. "Stan Rogers" was in the house. ;o) I loved the part as Joey was talking to the picture of Bruce behind him on the wall ... complaining that he took away his ECMA (years ago!!!) and someone suggested to put the picture down ... lol. A good one! I also loved the gently guitar work by Jamie Robinson. Good to talk to him after the show ... it's really funny who is watching at my photos and telling me that he loves them. THANKS to all for watching at this point :o)))). We left at 11pm and arrived at home 2 hours later ... by this time I was really sick. As we entered the Dragon Fly I recognized the cold coming already and it got worse during the evening. Ah well ... hatschoo!
